I keep seeing posts all over social media about shakes, powders, pills and liquids that will improve your health and people are eating it up – quite literally. I am sick of it. It has been all that I can do to keep from lashing out at the claimants. The only thing that has kept me in check about blowing my top is that these posts are coming from people that I know. People whom I don’t want to upset or offend but I have to say SOMETHING because these claims of health are just 100% false. Do any of you even have a clue what you are trying to sell? I have a secret addiction to both my pressure cooker and my crock pot. They make meals so stinking easy and especially soups. During the cooler months, I could eat soups 24/7. They are filling. Calories. We count them and cut them. But do we really know what they are and what on earth they do to us?
According to Websters, a calorie is a unit of energy. It is the amount of energy, or heat, it takes to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit). One calorie is equal to 4.184 joules, a common unit of energy used in the physical sciences. When we are talking in terms of food though, a calorie contains 4,184 joules. Ok, so, if you have been reading our posts for any length of time, you know that we support a plant based diet. Yep, I have been a veg gal for over 7 years now. It wasn’t an easy transition for me but it made perfect sense. Today, I would like to share with you why I kicked the critter products to the curb.
